Family Trophy
Although golf is a strongly individual sport, the most emotional moments and the most beautiful moments occur in competitions where golfers play in pairs or as a team. A parent’s game with his or her child is a the best team possible. The final day of the Family Trophy takes place on Father’s Day. The Family Trophy inaugural edition in ’23 was the start of a tradition that aims to provide parents and their children with unforgettable memories during the competition weekend. The concept of family pairs celebrated a stunning success in the Czech Republic at the turn of the millennium under the name Family Cup.
A two-round tournament weekend for parent-child teams. Designed for all ages and skill levels, including professionals. All pairs play in a common category using a unique rating system and what golf has been the only one of all sports to offer since time immemorial – different tees for individual types and performance of players. The competition syestem is the sum of gross and net stableford points. The competition weekend is enriched with a Garden Party early evening on Saturday, additional competitions and other ideas in order to create a place, time and space for unforgettable moments of the participants.
The proceeds of the event are donated to the charity association „Sluneční paprsek“ MUDr. Pavel Boček from the Faculty Hospital in Motol, Prague, which provides trips to the seaside for children undergoing oncology treatment or just after treatment or in a unreversable state of the illness. In 2023, Family Trophy donated 255,000 CZK to Sluneční paprsek.
The Family trophy is a memorial to Jaroslav Besperát, the then General Manager of Česká podnikatelská pojišťovna, who was at the birth of the idea and who planned to participate in the first year with his son Lukáš. The day before signing the contract of the Title partnership of ČPP with Family Trophy, he suddenly and very unexpectedly died. His son Lukáš is the official Host of the tournament and presents the trophies to the winners.
Family Trophy second edition in June 2024 will include a special, yet somewhat „unofficial“ category for the spouse/partner teams.
The best individual stroke play performance in the under-18 category is rewarded with a „play and stay“ voucher for the Golf Mad WAGR tournament in Belek, Turkey, in November. The trophy sponsored by INGOLF partnership agency, the GOLF MAD.
The Inaugural Family Trophy U-18 winner Daniel Drábek represented Czech Republic in 2023 and finished as a runner up in a 3 round tournament in fabulous Gloria Resort.
The winning pair of the first edition was Petr Bartoň and his son Tobiáš.
As of 2024 the teams will play for the financial rewards.
Basic information
A two-round, two-day tournament for family pairs. The sum of stableford net and gross points in the common category. Two-tee start, based upon an average hdc of the pair. Sunday tee times reversed to the order of the team leaderboard. Open to all age and performance categories, amateurs and professionals. The team must consist of a parent and its child.
In 2024, a “secondary category” of married couples will be opened. Registration for the tournament is only possible via the form below.
The second edition of the Family Trophy 2024 takes place on June 15-16 in the European Tour venue of Karlštejn Golf Resort
